Who or What is the Well?
The Well is a new community with the desire to help the next generation experience God in a real, relational, and relevant way.
We know how difficult and confusing life can be and we want to help you in your faith journey to connect with God and other travelers in a way that makes the most sense to you.
We feel that the church should not be a destination, but a vehicle for people to experience God. At The Well you can experience God in a number of ways:
· In Community
· In Worship
· In Teaching
· In Prayer
· In Serving one another
We have learned that God can be found when we honestly seek Him.
What does this look like?
In Community
At The Well we realize that we are all fellow travelers, walking through life intent on taking each step closer to our Savior all along the way. When we meet together, we meet as equals, no one superior to anyone else. The Apostle Peter tells us that we are all priests (1 Peter 2:9) and therefore we believe that everyone has something to contribute to everyone else. When we gather together, we gather as a Christian community seeking to encourage each other (Hebrews 10:25) and build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11) as we all continue to travel through life as Christ’s disciples (Hebrews 12:1-3). This also filters into community groups that meet to share life with each other on a weekly basis to learn more about Jesus Christ and how to live as His disciples here on earth.
In Worship
It also means gathering together as a community to express to God His infinite worth to us. At The Well, worship plays an important role, but it is more than music, more than singing. It is about using a range of emotions, loud and intense times to calm and intimate moments, laughter, excitement, and more to communicate to God our love for him on the truest level we possibly can. Sometimes this may even include other forms of artistic expression and reflection. Sometimes just having all-out fun! Beyond that, we take our worship with us throughout the week. We intend to be consistent worshippers, ones who worship God in every aspect, every moment of our journey.
In Teaching
When we meet at The Well, we come to meet Jesus there and to learn from Him as the woman did when she met Jesus at Jacob’s well for the first time. It was a casual conversation. It was meeting Jesus during a routine activity in life. Whether it’s a group of guys experiencing a new phase of life as husbands and fathers or a mixed group of people dealing with financial hardship and tough life questions, maybe people just hanging out or a friendly competition over video games, we meet to share with each other and dig deep into each other’s lives to find the Truth of what God intends for us as His disciples. In everything we do at The Well, the Bible and Christ’s teachings are our motivation.
In Prayer
Prayer is another essential element of who we are as disciples of Jesus Christ. We have learned that to truly experience God face to face, prayer must be a vital part of our lives. In fact, to be involved in the work God is doing here on earth, prayer is a means of connecting our lives with the activity and life of God. Since prayer is so important to us, when you visit The Well, you’ll notice that we pray for different things and about different things. You’ll soon learn how to pray and how prayer can be an essential part of who you are as a child of God. We believe that prayer is an important discipline that keeps us in tune with God.
In Serving Others
The Well is made up of people for the sake of people. We are taught in Romans 12:9-21 that serving others is a means of showing God’s love and offering forgiveness to each other. The Apostle John taught us that to truly love God means to serve others in a loving sort of way (1 John 3:18). Therefore, we have many different opportunities for you to serve at The Well and also to be served. From community service projects, to serving on tech team, to playing on our worship band, to leading a community group, caring for our children, to organizing games and activities, for recruiting resources to make our 709 gatherings a success, or just having a cup of coffee, there is a place for everyone to serve their neighbor and Jesus Christ in a way that works best for them!
Where and When?
Like the woman at the well meeting with Jesus at an uncommon time, we meet at an uncommon time. The Well every other Saturday night at 7:09pm across from the Mose A Isaac Field House on the corner of CR 13 and Fountain Grove Drive in Bryan.
